Periodontal disease status and treatment need among a Kurdish population in Sulaimani - Iraq as assessed by CPITN index

Background and Objective: This study identifies the prevalence severity of periodontal diseases in a given population Sulaimani using Community Periodontal Index Treatment Needs (CPITN) attempts to find relation CPITN with age, sex, location, visit dentist, tooth brushing, use mouth wash interdental aids, systemic disease, smoking status missing teeth. Methods: examinations were performed CPITN, plaque index (PI) bleeding (BI). Other data including presence diseases, teeth also collected. The subjected logistic regression between other variables. Results: Among 1354 subjects examined, 43.6% male majority these (80.9%) from urban areas. mean PI BI 0.64±24 0.39±0.28, respectively. Calculus was most prevalent highest score amongst examined (62.2%), followed by shallow pocket (22.2%) (9%). sextants, lower central sextants found have percentage calculus. percentages deep pockets at upper left (14%, 2.5%, respectively) right (11.4%, 3.2%, sextants. Logistic analysis showed that frequency brushing significantly correlated scores. Conclusion: Prevalence are high shown an impact on condition.
